Description
Productinformation in detailMost backpacks are built for either day hikes or multi-day trips.
The Flex Capacitor™ 40–60L from Sierra Designs is made for both – and it does it better than most packs made for just one.
With its expandable design, this pack adjusts to your trip instead of forcing you to adjust to it.
From lightweight overnighters to full-blown wilderness treks, it holds what you need – without weighing you down when you don’t.
The side gusset system lets you expand the capacity from 40 to 60 liters – smoothly and without turning your pack into a saggy duffel.
The shape stays tight, the load stays centered. It works just as well compressed as it does at full stretch.
At just 2 lbs 12 oz (S/M) or 3 lbs 2 oz (M/L), the Flex Capacitor is part of the ultralight crowd –
but the Y-Flex frame gives you genuine weight distribution.
Hikers report: “14 hours on the trail – no sore spots, no pressure points.”
That’s the kind of feedback that speaks for itself.
You get stretchy side pockets, big hipbelt pockets that actually fit your phone and snacks,
strap-access stash zones, a lid with extra storage, and a U-shaped zipper for the main compartment.
The internal space is intentionally simple – if you like compartments, bring your packing cubes.
The removable hydration sleeve can double as a minimalist summit daypack.
It’s not a gimmick – it’s actually practical for quick alpine pushes or short side trails from camp.
The Flex Capacitor™ is the one pack we recommend when someone says:
"I want something for both day hikes and full treks – but I don’t want to buy two packs."
It’s a real workhorse with brains.
It carries light loads with comfort, and heavier setups with ease.
It’s not flashy. But it’s built for the kind of trips that don’t make it onto Instagram – the real ones.
At Campanions, we recommend this pack for hikers who want one setup that flexes with their plans – not against them.

Materials & Care
Materials:
The Flex Capacitor is made from 100D honeycomb nylon and 420D Oxford nylon – lightweight fabrics that can handle backcountry abuse. The body resists abrasion; the base is reinforced for added protection against wet ground and rough terrain.
Care:
Wipe clean with lukewarm water and a soft cloth. Do not machine wash or use fabric softeners. For storage, empty the pack completely and store dry – ideally hanging or loosely stuffed to preserve the frame and suspension.
Size Guide
The Flex Capacitor™ comes in two sizes: S/M and M/L. The key measurement isn't your height – it's your torso length. That's the distance from the base of your neck to your hip bones.
Not sure how to measure? Here's a simple guide:
S/M = lean to average torso
M/L = long torso, tall build, or broader frame
🟢 S/M
Torso: 16–19 in (41–48 cm)
Waist: 28–46 in (71–117 cm)
Volume: 40–60 L
Weight: 2 lbs 11 oz (1.235 kg)
🟢 M/L
Torso: 18–21 in (46–53 cm)
Waist: 33–50 in (84–127 cm)
Volume: 40–60 L
Weight: 2 lbs 15 oz (1.335 kg)
✅ If you're between sizes, we generally recommend going with S/M – unless you have a long torso. It’ll ride closer and feel more stable for active movement.
