That means there’s no need to figure out whether a separate harness should sit under or over the vest, and no searching for a leash opening once you’re ready to head outside.

It’s an easy everyday option for walks, short adventures, and cool-weather outings when your dog benefits from an extra layer without needing heavy winter insulation.

Comfortable warmth without the bulk

The soft 380 g medium-pile polyester fleece provides cozy warmth in mild to cool conditions while keeping the overall feel flexible and comfortable.

That makes the Timberline Fuse™ especially useful for dogs that appreciate an extra layer on cooler days or during lower-activity moments such as breaks, short stops, or relaxed walks.

A dog’s need for added warmth depends on coat type, undercoat, age, body build, and activity level, so we see the Timberline Fuse™ as a cool-weather fleece layer rather than a heavy-duty winter coat.

More coverage while staying movement-friendly

The extended vest silhouette provides coverage across the torso, hips, and thighs, offering more warmth than a shorter fleece layer.

Soft stretch leg loops help keep the vest comfortably in place while your dog moves, helping maintain coverage without making the fit feel restrictive.

Two leash attachment points built in

The integrated harness includes two leash connection options: an anodized aluminum V-ring on the back and a reinforced webbing loop on the chest.

The back attachment works well for everyday walks and straightforward leash handling, while the front attachment gives you another option when you prefer to clip in at the chest. That makes the Timberline Fuse™ feel much more like a true harness-and-vest system than a dog coat with a simple leash opening.

How to find the right size

Measure your dog’s chest girth around the widest part of the rib cage. Keep the measuring tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight or compressing the coat.

Between sizes? Ruffwear recommends using your dog’s back length to help determine the best fit.

Fit matters: The Timberline Fuse™ should feel secure without restricting your dog. You should be able to fit about two fingers between the harness and your dog on each side of the chest. There should also be about four finger widths between the front leg and the strap so the harness does not sit too close to the armpit or rub during movement.

After putting it on, check that the shoulders and front legs can move freely and that the leg loops do not pull or dig in.
