For us, that is what truly sets it apart: the inside is exceptionally soft, comfortable against the skin and noticeably less clammy. Its spacious shape also gives you room to turn over, bend your knees or stretch out without feeling restricted.

A sleeping bag can be warm enough and still feel uncomfortable. Limited room to turn over, a slick liner against your skin and little choice between fully closed and too far open can make restful outdoor sleep surprisingly difficult.

The Kelty Wayback 20 is designed for campers who move in their sleep and do not want to compromise on comfort. Its spacious shape, soft organic cotton flannel and insulated built-in blanket create a sleeping setup that feels much closer to a familiar bed than a restrictive outdoor sleeping bag.

Soft organic cotton flannel instead of a slick synthetic feel

For us, the most noticeable difference is on the inside. The woven organic cotton flannel feels exceptionally soft and comfortable against the skin. It is quieter and feels distinctly less clammy than the smooth liners used in many synthetic sleeping bags.

That creates a more familiar, relaxed sleeping environment in a van, rooftop tent or campground setup—even when you are not wearing full-length sleep layers.

Room to move and warmth you can adjust

Whether you sleep on your side, pull up your knees or stretch out, the spacious shape gives you room to change position without dragging the entire sleeping bag around with you.

Pull the insulated inner blanket up to your chin, wrap it around your shoulders or secure it with the low-profile snaps. As the night becomes warmer, the shorter side zipper lets you fold down the upper section. Dual locking zipper sliders also allow targeted ventilation without opening the entire bag.

Always follow the care label on the product before washing or drying.
Use a mild detergent and avoid fabric softener or harsh cleaning agents.
After use, allow the sleeping bag to dry and air out completely, especially after nights with high humidity or condensation.
For long-term storage, avoid keeping it tightly compressed inside the stuff sack. This helps preserve the loft and structure of the insulation.
The organic cotton flannel feels exceptionally comfortable against the skin, but it requires a little more care around moisture than fully synthetic liners. For extended trips in consistently wet conditions, a lighter technical backpacking sleeping bag may be the more practical choice.
