Productinformation in detailA leash for all furries - adventurers take note
Okay - really - we have rarely been as excited about a dog leash as we are about this one.
With our two huskies and their strong hunting instincts, we are of course part of a team leash - but we still want to give them as much freedom as possible and still have them under control at all times.
As we are not big fans of flexi leashes, we were spoilt for choice when it came to the drag line - just dropping it on the ground and jumping on it in an emergency has proven to be a failure on several occasions. That's why we take really active walks with the drag line - that means winding it up, unwinding it - making sure nothing gets tangled and always keeping an eye on our own legs - no, that doesn't just sound exhausting, it definitely is!
And when a rabbit does shoot by, it can be a real struggle to hold on to those drag lines - oh yes, there have been the odd hand cramp, unsightly blister and even a dislocated finger trying to hold on to the thin, hard to grip lines.
The Ruffwear Hitch Hiker was the answer for us!
The integrated braking system works perfectly - as we wear the lines on our waist belt, all we need is a firm foothold and we have the control we need even in tricky situations.
How does the integrated brake work?
The practical brake from the climbing sector is simply ingenious - you set the length you want to give your dog and it stays that way - no matter how hard he pulls, it won't move a Millimeter.
The brake only works in the direction of your dog, so if you want to keep your dog close to you, you can pull on the end of the leash and pull your dog closer, even though the brake is locked.
Perfectly designed - with storage bag and adjustable strap
Once you have your dog secured, you can easily stow the excess leash in the convenient pocket. There is also a small pocket on the outside for poop bags or treats.
The integrated belly strap can be used as a small hand loop, as a waist strap for hands-free running, or around a tree to keep your dog leashed and secure during a break in the shade.
