We always pack a set of dog boots just to be on the safe side, especially if we're planning on exploring a city in the summer. It's easy to forget how much asphalt and even cobblestones heat up in summer temperatures and how uncomfortable it must be for our dogs to walk on them with their sensitive pads.

Interestingly enough, other dog owners always smile at us and the word "dog shoes" sometimes has a negative connotation for most people. But honestly, we don't really care - have you ever seen blisters on pads? No - be glad - it's really not a pretty sight and it takes a long time to heal.
