As self-proclaimed ambitious hobby chefs, we cannot imagine our kitchen without cast iron skillets. Whether on the stove, on the grill, or even in our fire bowl, we love to use our cast iron pans.
So why is that?
What can we say - a cast iron pan is the only way to get the incomparable taste of frying not only meat, but also vegetables and fish.
And since we don't want to compromise on taste when we're on the road, at least one pan should always be in our luggage.
One of the best things about cast iron is that it's easy to clean. You shouldn't use dish soap on cast iron - warm water is usually enough, but if you don't, just fill your pan with water, bring it to a boil and wipe it down with a soft cloth while it's still warm.
Add the occasional drop of non-rancid oil - such as sunflower, linseed or cold-pressed rapeseed - and your pan will probably last a lifetime.
